Anthony Mackie Describes ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ as a Six-Hour Movie

We’ve been hearing for a long time how Marvel Studios is treating their Disney+ limited series the same as the big screen movies. Not only will they be just as important to the overall MCU story, meaning you’ll need to see them to keep up with everything, but they’re also being produced in the same way as their movies.

Now the star of one of the shows confirms that, when Anthony Mackie said in a Variety Actor on Actor interview that it feels like they’re just cutting a movie into six pieces:

“We’re shooting it exactly like a movie,” he said. “Everybody who had worked on TV before was like, ‘I’ve never worked on a TV show like this.’ The way in which we were shooting, it feels exactly like we were shooting the movie cut up into the show. So instead of a two-hour movie, a six or eight-hour movie.”

He also addressed the budget, saying it wasn’t seemingly unlimited like they feel the movies have, although reports have said that the Disney+ shows have a much higher budget than normal series; something more along the lines of Game of Thrones than normal TV.

There’s still no update about the actual release date for The Falcon and The Winder Soldier, although in the interview Mackie addressed the delayed filming by saying, “So hopefully, knock on wood, we’ll be going back soon.”
