A few weeks ago, Hollywood Trades reported that Sam Raimi was in talks to take over for Scott Derrickson to direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As it happens on the internet, people don’t want to believe anything until there’s “official” word, but now there’s evidence that he has signed on to direct the Doctor Strange sequel.
Sam Raimi was scheduled to be a guest of the Monster Mania Con in the middle of March (the 13th-15th) and his appearance has been cancelled due to filming:
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been reported to begin filming in early May in London, but if Raimi has to drop out of a convention appearance in the middle of March it likely means it’s due to him preparing to shoot the movie. Meaning this could be confirmation that he’s signed on to the sequel.
