Some bad news tonight for MCU fans, Scott Derrickson has dropped out of directing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but will remain onboard as an executive producer.
Variety reported the news tonight, citing “creative differences” and Marvel issued a statement on the departure:
“Marvel Studios and Scott Derrickson have amicably parted ways on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. We remain grateful to Scott for his contributions to the MCU.”
This is quite the sudden development as the Doctor Strange sequel is expected to begin filming sometime early this year for a May 2021 release. Marvel has yet to reveal who will be directing the sequel.
