Earlier in the year Marvel and Sony resolved the Spider-Man custody situation, and when that happened Kevin Feige strongly hinted that Spidey would be able to leap across cinematic universes. Deadline also reported that Sony would be allowed to reference events in the MCU in their Sony Universe of Marvel Characters. Now we know one thing that might happen.
According to Daniel Ritchman via his Patreon, Sony is “in talks” with Tom Holland over a cameo in Venom 2. It’s only in the early talks phase, which means it could fall apart, but it wouldn’t be a big role as it’s listed as only a cameo. But this would be the first step towards having Venom and Spider-Man meet up in a bigger way in the future. This is the “bad news” you’ve heard people teasing lately, and it’s really not that bad.
Some fans might be mad about this news, but if you look at when Venom 2 is slated for release (October 2020), this would be before the third MCU Spider-Man movie. That means this cameo could give us our first hint as to what Peter Parker’s life is like after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home.
