The Black Widow Trailer Might Confirm Pre-‘Iron Man’ Flashbacks

One of the earliest rumors about the Black Widow movie is that it would explore multiple time periods. We’d see Nat in a more modern setting, while flashing back to her time before the events of Iron Man 2. The trailer released early this morning might confirm we’ll see flashbacks set even before the first Iron Man movie…

In the trailer there’s a sequence where Thunderbolt Ross leads a convoy out to a field where Natasha is, and in the trailer that version of Nat has longer hair than at other points in the footage, hinting that she could be younger there:

Even bigger, Thunderbolt Ross is de-aged in this scene:

And he’s not just de-aged to how he looked in The Incredible Hulk from 2008, he’s aged even younger than he appeared in that movie:

Another clue is that later in the trailer we get a look at Iron Maiden in her Black Widow suit, and it’s the same suit the “Flashback” Nat is wearing, hinting that it’s the standard-issue uniform for Red Room operatives:

While Marvel famously likes to digitally alter their trailers to throw people off the trail, it’s possible these scenes are from a Pre-Iron Man flashback. Maybe even showing how Natasha first comes into contact with S.H.I.E.L.D., many years before Tony Stark ever created his Iron Man suit…
