Marvel is Casting a ‘Ruler of a Distant Ancient Kingdom’

With Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe well into production, Marvel will be looking to cast a lot of new faces in some pretty major roles for upcoming films.

One of those may have appeared, as according to Geeks Worldwide Marvel is looking to cast a character (using a codename obviously), who is described as a “ruler of a distant ancient kingdom”. They’re looking for someone in their 30s or 40s and are leaning towards and Asian actor for the role.

The site speculates that the character could appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (based on Derrickson’s old Tweet), Shang Chi: The Legend of the Ten Rings, or Loki…however rumors have strongly pointed to Namor appearing in Black Panther 2. The casting says the filming is going to be a to-be-determined date in 2020, which also leans towards that sequel.

Then again, it’s also possible this could just be for a credit stinger for a future movie to set up a major character down the line.

Kevin Feige said a couple of months ago that Ryan Coogler has only outlined the movie and would then begin writing the script, but at this point he’s likely already met with Marvel Studios and they’re starting preparation based on their meeting. That would mean that if Namor is involved in the movie, they could be looking for him.

If the rumors of the Black Panther sequel dealing with a Secret Empire like Atlantis are true, the role of Namor would be one big enough that they’d want to start searching for as early as possible.

We’ll just have to wait and see who this “ruler of a distant ancient kingdom” is and what movie they end up in.
