Capcom’s Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men, and Punisher Arcade Games Are Coming Home!

X-Men Children of the Atom

In the late 90s and early 2000s, Capcom produced some undeniably classic Marvel arcade games. Marvel Super Heroes and X-Men: Children of the Atom were the genesis for the future vs. fighting games that featured the Street Fighter characters, and they also did a really great (and often forgotten) Punisher game.

Now all three of those are coming home. Arcade 1up, who makes those cool mini-arcade cabinets such as the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat ones, revealed two new cabs at E3 2019 this week. There’s a four-player TMNT cabinet that features the two Turtles arcade games, and then there’s a Marvel one with Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men: Children of the Atom, and The Punisher!

Even cooler, they’re doing custom Marvel risers for the cabinets!

This is a great opportunity to play some classic Marvel arcade games again. I don’t believe any of these are currently available in a digital compilation anywhere, and the last time Marvel Super Heroes was released was digitally on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 last generation. The Punisher has actually never seen a home release, outside of a very poor Sega Genesis port; so this will be the first time many have been able to play an arcade-perfect version of that classic beat-em-up!
