The final Fox-era mainline X-Men film, Dark Phoenix, releases next week. While reviews aren’t allowed until right before release, the cast is doing the press tour and giving interviews about this final X-Men film, and James McAvoy has just given one and explained why the entire end of the film had to be reshot.

The original rumor for the Dark Phoenix ending involved shape-shifting aliens invading Earth, and the X-Men having to go into orbit to destroy the invading fleet of ships. That sounds awfully similar to Captain Marvel. The new ending of Dark Phoenix is set on Earth, on a train.
