Over the weekend many sites were reporting on a rumor about the setting of Marvel’s upcoming Black Widow movie that reportedly came from Sebastian Stan in an interview where he said it’s set after Captain America: Civil War. However, there’s zero actual evidence for this interview outside of a single Tumblr fan account who claimed to see the interview, so until a recording or video of that interview surfaces, it’s usually best not to report on something a random Tumblr account “reported”.
However, this bit of news does come from a legitimate source.
According to HN Entertainment, which specializes in tracking where movies and TV shows are filming, at least some of Marvel’s Black Widow will be filmed in Budapest, Hungary.
Of course, MCU fans immediately recognize Budapest as the long-running reference between Hawkeye and Black Widow, which surfaced yet again in Avengers: Endgame. Whether or not this means that Hawkeye will appear in the Black Widow movie isn’t known, but it’d be a pretty crazy coincidence for them to be filming in Budapest with that existing connection to the MCU. And if the movie does show us what went down in Budapest with Hawkeye and Black Widow, that means that the prequel portion of the movie would be much earlier than “after Civil War” like that other rumor this weekend claimed.
