For the last few months, despite the filmmakers confirming multiple times over the last year that it was set minutes after Avengers: Endgame, fans have been pushing a conspiracy theory that Spider-Man: Far From Home was actually a prequel to Avengers: Infinity War.
Despite dialog in Infinity War confirming where the school bus was going, the popular theory was that Peter would appear on the bus at the end of Far From Home. Then the conspiracy was bolstered with people not understanding the ending of Avengers: Endgame, and not understanding that Peter and his friends would still be in high school despite the five-year time jump as you don’t get to bypass high school just because you died.
The new trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home released this morning should finally squash these silly conspiracy theories of a secret Infinity War prequel. There’s a reason why they held this trailer until two weeks after the release of Avengers: Endgame, as what happens in that movie has a profound effect on Peter Parker and the entire MCU. This trailer shows how Peter has to deal with the ramifications of a world without Tony Stark, but it also drops some interesting hints as to what the MCU may be dealing with in Phase 4.
