As revealed last week, the Disney acquisition of Fox is now complete and will be officially effective in just a few hours from now. 21st Century Fox announced the completion of the deal to shareholders today, and revealed what time it goes into effect:
“The Walt Disney Company’s (“Disney”) acquisition of 21CF will become effective at 12:02 a.m. Eastern Time tomorrow, March 20, 2019.”
This means that the Fox-owned Marvel characters are home. Of course people are excited about X-Men, but my favorite comic of all time is the Fantastic Four and that’s what I’m most excited to see Marvel Studios handle. Fantastic Four is called Marvel’s First Family as they were the first superheroes for Marvel that Stan Lee created. They deserve the care Marvel Studios shows to their characters, which means we’ll finally get a very good version of them on the big screen.
Of course, the competition of this deal means we’re going to have to deal with weeks of BS clickbait claiming Wolverine, Doctor Doom, Galactus, or Silver Surfer showing up in Avengers: Endgame. Much like the mass hysteria with sites claiming Silver Surfer would be in Avengers: Infinity War last year, it’s just a bit of annoyance we’ll have to deal with until the end of April, and then it’ll start up all over again with the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home…
