Last night a rumor about the upcoming Loki series on Disney+ came out, and fans are not happy about it.
Originating from That Hashtag Show, the rumor says that the series will not actually feature Tom Hiddleston on-screen. Instead, Loki will narrate the story of his life from Hel. The upcoming Vision/Scarlet Witch and Bucky/Falcon series are expected to feature the movie actors reprising their role, not just narrating the shows, which is why Loki fans are pretty upset over the rumor of not seeing the movie Loki in the series.
Back in November during Disney’s 4th quarter earnings call, CEO Bob Iger had this to say about the show:
“We’re also currently developing a live-action Marvel series about Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston playing the character he’s made so famous.”
That kind of makes it sound like it’ll feature Hiddleston in the role, otherwise he wouldn’t be selling a narration role to shareholders like that.
There is one thing that sort of supports the rumor, and that’s a play in London that Tom Hiddleston is doing until June. So if they had planned to film the series before then, for a launch on Disney+ later in the year, he probably wouldn’t be available. But as there’s not yet word on who’s writing or running the Loki series (when we have that information for Vision/Scarlet Witch and Bucky/Falcon), it’s also possible that the Loki series isn’t as far along as those two.
That’s why this is just a rumor for now and we’ll have to wait and see what comes out about the Loki series. There’s a rumor that we’ll learn a lot more about the Disney+ shows in April at the annual Disney shareholder’s meeting.
