Sony is Hopeful For a Future Spider-Man MCU Deal

Following the release of Venom this past October, and its box office success, you saw a lot of people wonder if Sony would pull Spidey from the MCU to force him into their universe of Marvel characters. It doesn’t make much sense for them to do that, as with Marvel producing the films for them; they cost a lot less and make a lot more money. It’d be flushing profits down the toilet, something the head of Sony Corp wouldn’t like much.

So now comes an interview with Amy Pascal in Vanity Fair where she’s asked about a potential future where Spider-Man isn’t in the MCU, and she clearly says she hopes they can work out a new deal:

“I think about crying. I can only hope for a future where things work out. I’ve known Kevin since he was Avi’s very, very quiet assistant, who for many years sat in that room listening to us and being so much smarter than any of us without any of us realizing. I will say that working with Marvel has been one of the highlights of my professional career.”

Hopefully that should calm some people down who began to panic with conspiracy theories of Spider-Man being pulled from the MCU over the last couple of months. The person at Sony in charge of Spidey obviously wants him to remain in the MCU and hopes they’ll work out a future deal to keep him there.
