Marvel looks to be lining up their Phase 4 slate. Following the James Gunn drama with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3., Marvel found a director for The Eternals, and things are really ramping up with Black Widow. Now the sequel to this year’s Black Panther is coming into focus as the creative team behind the original will be intact for the sequel.
Today The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Ryan Coogler has closed a deal to return and direct the sequel. They say that the movie would begin filming in either late 2019 or 2020, and if so that means it could be the February 2021 movie that’s on Marvel Studios schedule.
Obviously it comes as no surprise that he’ll be coming back, but this news is good to let fans know the sequel will be in the same hands that made the original one of the best movies in the MCU.
