New Captain Marvel Plot Details From Entertainment Weekly!

Today’s cover reveal of Captain Marvel by Entertainment Weekly also brings with it some new details about the plot of the movie.

It sounds like the movie is going to not exactly be what people are expecting, meaning all of those who have been writing fake fan fiction plot “leaks” detailing an origin film will be pretty disappointed:

“Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel sidesteps the traditional origin-story template, and when it begins, Carol already has her powers. She’s left her earthly life behind to join an elite Kree military team called Starforce, led by Jude Law’s enigmatic commander.”

They also confirm that the Skrulls are the villains and confirms Ben Mendelsohn is playing Talos:

“But before long, Carol finds herself back on Earth with new questions about her past. And she’s got a formidable enemy in the form of the Skrulls — the notorious Marvel baddies made all the more dangerous by their shape-shifting abilities. Ben Mendelsohn plays their leader Talos, who spearheads a Skrull invasion of Earth.”

In the comics, Talos was a Skrull who couldn’t shape-shift like the other members of his race. He made up for that shortcoming with cybernetic enhancements, making him a feared warrior. We’ll have to wait and see if the MCU version of Talos is similar to the comic version.
