Rumor: Marvel Abandons James Gunn’s Script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The James Gunn situation doesn’t seem to be quieting down much, but a new rumor suggests that Marvel and Disney are serious about their original statement that said they have ended their business relationship with him as it’s possible that they may have abandoned his script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Gunn turned in a first draft of his script not long before being fired by the head of the Walt Disney Studios.

According to Christopher Marc of Omega Underground/GWW, Disney has “tossed out” Gunn’s script:

He stresses it has not been confirmed yet, thus it’s just a rumor for now.

If it’s true, Marvel may need to find a new Drax.

It will also throw the plans for Phase 4 a curve ball, but thankfully Kevin Feige always has a “B” and “C” plan to turn to in case anything good, or in this case, bad happens to affect the “A” plan they were on. The sudden addition of Spider-Man to Captain America: Civil War, replacing the original version where Ant-Man is recruited by Tony, is an example of how they have alternate paths they can take. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the rest of Phase 4 will now have to be on one of those other paths.
