Ever since Sony Picture’s Venom entered production, there have been rumors flying around that Tom Holland’s Peter Parker would cameo in some way in the movie. Even though the original source of the cameo rumors is usually hit and miss in what they report, people continued to spread the bogus idea in many different ways. One version had Eddie Brock just passing Peter in the street and the more popular one was Peter Parker being on a school field trip.
Since Venom is set in San Francisco and Peter Parker being in New York, neither of those made much sense. Today Entertainment Weekly is out with an article with a couple of new images from the movie and it tosses some cold water on the Parker cameo theories:
“Venom is the first of Sony’s new films based on characters from the Spider-Man comics, although it’s a separate world from last year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. (It’s also not part of the deal between Sony and Disney that allows Tom Holland’s Spidey into the Marvel Cinematic Universe). “
Right there it says this is a “separate world” from the one Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is in. So that version of Peter Parker does not exist in the same universe as Sony’s Venom. Obviously no one expected the movie to be part of the MCU, but this should (hopefully) put a stop to all of the cameo theories.
