The Avengers: Infinity War Blu-Ray Will Not Feature the IMAX Aspect Ratio

One of the biggest questions fans have had about the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War Blu-Ray is if it’ll feature the movie in the IMAX aspect ratio. This is because they made a big deal about the entire movie being projected in the full IMAX screen size for those showings, much like what they’re doing for Ant-Man and The Wasp right now.

Marvel officially announced the Blu-Ray this morning, and retailers have begun to update thier listings. Amazon UK posted the back of the Blu-Ray packaging, which confirms the movie will be presented in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio. In other words, it’s not the larger IMAX aspect ratio and will have the normal black bars at the top and bottom of the screen:

While this is likely very disappointing, it’s not unexpected. Normally Disney doesn’t do the IMAX aspect ratios on their Blu-Rays, with the only exception being some of the 3D Blu-Ray releases such as Captain America: Civil War. There’s not a 3D Blu-Ray release of Avengers: Infinity War in the US this time, so we’ll have to wait and see if any international 3D release contains the IMAX footage or not.
