Jim Starlin Says His Comments About Avengers 4 Were Taken Out of Context

For the last month, MCU fans have been speculating what new cosmic character may appear in Avengers 4 based on some comments that Jim Starlin reportedly said at the Puerto Rico Comic Con. Now according to the legendary comic writer, his comments were taken out of context by the site that originally reported on them.

Back on May 19th, SuperBroMovies reported that Jim Starlin told the crowd at the convention that, “Starlin revealed that he would receive more credits for Avengers 4 than he did for Avengers: Infinity War.” According to Starlin himself on his official Facebook page today, that’s not what he said:

“Okay, this has gone on long enough. Last month at a con in Puerto Rico it came up in the Q&A that I received two credits in the Avengers The Infinity War. I then kidded that I was going to shoot for three in the next movie. I never said another of my characters is going to be appearing in it as has been widely reported since then. That was a mistake on the original reporters part.”

While some people think he’s walking it back due to pressure from Marvel, I don’t believe that’s the case here. He’s obviously trying to correct something that was misreported by a site a month ago and has become pretty viral among the MCU fanbase online. However…

There is a video of Jim Starlin’s comments at the convention and he says:

“I’ll tell you one thing, I got two credits in this movie. I’m shooting for three in the next.”

After that he waves his hand in the air and says,

“Whatever that means”
