Ever since Clark Gregg was cast in Captain Marvel, MCU fans have been speculating that his experiences in the 90s could be what he was referring to ten years ago in the first Iron Man.
At the end of that movie, he tells Tony Stark that the events with him weren’t his first rodeo, and today in an interview with Entertainment Weekly; Clark Gregg confirms that Captain Marvel is likely what Coulson was talking about:
“He’s a bit of a new guy in S.H.I.E.L.D.” Gregg says. “He’s a lot younger. It’s the earliest we will have seen him, so when he says, ‘Mr. Stark, this isn’t my first rodeo’ in Iron Man, this is maybe the rodeo he’s talking about.”
Captain Marvel isn’t out until March, but based on the timing of the first Black Panther trailer (for the movie releasing in February), there’s a very good chance we’ll be getting our first look at it when Ant-Man and the Wasp releases this July.
